Where can I buy Carolina Ruiz Jewellery?

As a designer focused on creating unique, handcrafted pieces, I currently sell Carolina Ruiz Jewellery exclusively through this website. This allows me to maintain the highest quality control and offer you the most personalised shopping experience possible.

Here on the website, you can browse the latest collections at your own pace, discover the stories behind each piece, and even reach out to me directly if you have any questions. Think of it as your little treasure box of jewellery!

Do you produce large quantities of each piece?

No, I believe in creating high-quality, unique pieces that you won't find everywhere. Mass production isn't my style! Each Carolina Ruiz design is crafted with care, often using limited quantities of ethically sourced materials. This means you're more likely to own a piece with a special story and individuality, much like yourself.

Where do you ship CRJ from?

I have a small studio in Bentleigh, VIC, Australia. Where all my jewellery is designed and shipped.

Materials

What materials does Carolina Ruiz Jewellery use?

I love different types of metals and semi-precious stones.

All my earring posts and hooks are crafted from hypoallergenic metals like sterling silver and gold-filled. For my Pinchos (hairpins) and homeware, I use brass and copper.

14k Gold-filled

Gold-filled is metal (regularly brass) with a layer of gold of a minimum of 10 karats, bonded to the surface of brass by applying heat and pressure. Gold-filled is a quality designation that's regulated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and by law, the total weight of gold-filled must contain 5% of the item's total weight.

Gold-filled is a great option if you want jewellery with the same appearance as high-carat gold; you pay just a fraction and it will last.

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is an alloy of 92.5 pure silver with 7.5% of the weight of other metals like copper. Pure silver is a soft metal and difficult to shape making it not as durable as Sterling Silver.

18k Vermeil

Vermeil is a type of high-quality 18k gold-plated jewellery where a thick layer of gold five (5) times thicker than regular gold plating is applied to a base of sterling silver.

Brass

I love using brass because it is one of the most sustainable metals due to its ability to be recycled and reused. Its corrosion resistance makes brass ideal for applications where exposure to air or water can break down weaker materials like steel or aluminium. Its malleability also allows brass to be reshaped and repurposed for a variety of uses.

Brass requires little energy for production, which makes it an eco-friendly choice. Brass pieces also create a beautiful patina over time as they oxidise, which only serves to add more character to the piece and increases its longevity. As a result, using my brass home decor and accessories allows you to have beautiful pieces that are lovely and long-lasting while still being mindful of the environment.

Why does Carolina Ruiz Jewellery use Gold Filled?

Shiny for longer

gold,Gold-filled jewellery, also called "rolled gold" or "gold bonded," is a type of metal where a layer of gold is mechanically fused to a core, typically made of brass. This bonding process uses heat and pressure to create a strong connection between the gold and the base metal. Making the jewellery last longer than gold plate

Great for sensitive skin

Gold-filled jewellery features a thick layer of real gold on the outside. This ensures minimal exposure to the base metal underneath, making it a comfortable choice for most wearers.

Budget friendly

Gold-filled jewellery offers a sweet spot between affordability and quality. It provides a thicker layer of gold making it more durable. Yet, it remains a more budget-friendly option compared to solid gold.

Can my jewellery or accesories tarnish?

Gold Filled

In most circumstances, gold filled will not tarnish, even so, it could happen when is exposed to chemical sulphides and heavy toxins in the air it can.

Sterling Silver

Yes, it can, and the great news is it can be easily cleaned to remove the tarnish. Pure silver won't tarnish and the tarnish in sterling silver is caused by the other metals reacting to moisture and sulphur in the air.

Brass or Copper

Brass and copper can darken and develop a patina over time, which can look beautiful. However, if you prefer a brighter finish, they can be easily cleaned to remove the tarnish.

How do I care and clean my Carolina Ruiz jewellery?

Always remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, or exercising, even if it's solid gold. This helps prevent damage and tarnishing. For storage, choose a fabric bag or reusable plastic bag to protect your jewellery from moisture and dust.

Here's how to clean your jewellery, whether it's Sterling Silver, Brass, or Copper:

  1. Add a few drops of liquid dish soap to the warm water.
  2. Soak jewellery in the solution for 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Use a soft-bristle brush, such as a toothbrush, to clean any crevices. Be careful if it has stones.
  4. Rinse jewellery in warm water.
  5. To dry, gently rub jewellery with a cloth or microfiber towel.
